Prague City Guide – Culture, Castles and Czech Charm

Prague is a city that has long been on my big list of European cities I must see. I had long heard that it was my Uncle’s favourite place, and the romance of the Charles Bridge, the maze of cobbled lanes and hidden courtyards and the hilltop fairytale castle had my wanderlust on high alert. However, Prague also has a terrible stag party reputation which goes hand in hand with its moniker as the beer capital of Europe.

This seedy reputation of many Eastern European countries, the cheap and cheerful piss up city with eye-wateringly budget flights and groups of British men roaming in packs put me off discovering this European gem for so long. But those pictures of pretty Prague weaved their way into my heart – so I decided to find out if its rich history could win out over its stag-party reputation.

Visiting Vigeland Sculpture Park

If you’ve read my Oslo city break review or seen the photo diary, you might be surprised that visiting a park was high up on our hit list given the weather. But never one to let snow and a sub-zero temperature get in the way of an adventure, Mr Sparrow and I embarked on a trip to this beautiful location.

But what makes Vigeland Sculpture Park so special?

A 3 Night Oslo City Break (or how to do a city break in snow)

Picture the scene. I hit upon a genius idea to buy my impossible-to-buy-for husband a city break for Christmas in November 2015. He wins, I win, and we get to go exploring together, creating a lifetime of memories that a selection box and some aftershave just couldn’t compete with. I turn to Skyscanner to check flights for a long weekend in late January and see that flights to Oslo on our dates are just £9.99. That’s right, less than a tenner each, each way for an Oslo city break.

Well, you’d just book it wouldn’t you?
