If you are getting married anytime soon, then you will no doubt be thinking about planning your stag and hen parties. The traditional send-off is something that every bride and groom either dreads or enjoys. While it is often left to the best man or maid of honour to plan the activities for the stag and hen do, many people favour taking control of the proceedings themselves so that they can enjoy the occasion without fear of ending up tied to a lamp post or much, much worse.

There are lots of things to consider when it comes to planning your own stag or hen weekend, and if you are looking to go away for it, then there will be certainly lots to plan. Here are a few things that you should think about when it comes to planning the ultimate send-off.

Holding A Joint Stag And Hen Weekend

One thing that many couples often do these days is to combine their stag and hen weekends and spend them together with a selection of friends. This popular choice suits couples that want to distance themselves with the common conceptions of a stag or hen weekend. Many couples are happy with the fact that they don’t need a debaucherous farewell to the single life, and are content to share their final night of freedom with their partner and mutual friends.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with hosting a “sten” weekend. Some couples choose to divide off and meet back up later in the night. There are no rules, and whatever works best for you is the choice you should take.

Talk about the rules of a combined stag and hen do and discuss whether you want to spend the entire night or weekend together, or have some time separate. You will need to agree on what you are doing, as it is important that you are both on the same page when it comes to arranging this.

Preparing For A Stag Or Hen Weekend

If you are going for the traditional weekend away, you may want to consider getting t-shirts made up for the occasion. There is a distinct chance that many of the memories of your stag or hen weekend may well be a bit hazy, but at least if you all have matching t-shirts, then you will have something to remember the weekend by, even if the rest of your memories are shrouded in an alcohol-soaked fog.

There are a number of different ways that you can get a t-shirt printed up for the occasion. If you are wanting a simple design without many colours, then you will want to go for vinyl printing. Vinyl printing is generally the cheapest option, and can usually be done quite quickly. If you are wanting to have a more complex design with a photo, for example, then you will need to find a t-shirt printer that can do direct-to-garment printing. This is a technique that will allow you to produce images of much greater complexity in numerous colours. A company such PPE supplies direct may be able to supply t-shirts that meet your needs.

Picking Your Destination

Finding the right place to go away for your stag and hen weekend is crucial. You should consider the appropriateness of the destination that you are choosing. Choosing a destination that is known to be relaxing may make you unpopular visitors if you arrive expecting to have a wild party.

Some places may have a reputation for attracted stag and hen weekends, and as such, locals may be wary about stag and hen dos visiting their venues and hotels. Check before you book anywhere to ensure that you are not going anywhere that has had to clamp down on partygoers staying there. The last thing that you will want is to arrive and find out that you are not welcome anywhere.

Amsterdam

A popular destination for many stag and hen weekends is Amsterdam. With a liberal attitude to sex and drugs, it makes this city a popular venue for many people’s “final nights of freedom”. With a lively nightlife and a vibrant cafe community, right through to the infamous red-light district, you will be able to find the appropriate entertainment for your stag or hen do. If you want to take in some culture, however, there are many fascinating galleries and museums in the city.

Prague

Famous for its beer, the capital of the Czech Republic is a very popular destination with stag dos. This beautiful city sits in the shadow of a stunning and imposing castle and has beer-themed hotels, beer spas, and even a beer museum. It is definitely the place to go if the beer will be a major part of your stag agenda.

Brighton

One of the top party destinations in the south of England, Brighton has a bustling nightlife as well as access to lots of great shops, cafes, and restaurants, as well as tourist activities such as the amusements on the pier, sealife centre. You won’t be short of choices when it comes to the night time with bars and clubs to suit every taste, from the bustling and cosmopolitan right through to the relaxing and niche. Brighton has it all.

Ibiza

Known as one of the top party destinations in the world, Ibiza may well be an obvious choice of destination for your stag or hen weekend. Ibiza plays host to some of the most famous nightclubs in the world, with internationally renowned DJ’s you will be able to have the night to end all other nights.

If you are looking for a bit more of a subdued affair, the other side of the island is known for its more relaxed vibe, and you will be able to enjoy your pre-wedding send-off without the need to throw shapes on the dancefloor.

London

Picking a destination such as London opens up a vast array of choices. Whatever you want to do, London will probably have the option to do it. If you want to hit the bars and clubs, there are plenty to choose from. There are lots of great activities for breaking up the proceedings too. If you want to take in a bit of crazy golf, then head down to Brick Lane and enjoy Junkyard golf. Following on from this, why not grab a curry nearby in one of the best Indian restaurants in the country. If live music is your thing, you could take in any number of gigs by great bands that will be taking place right across the city.

Berlin

Germany’s cosmopolitan capital is a great choice for stag and hen dos alike. With everything from lively bars and nightclubs right through to quieter, more interesting venues Berlin has it all. You may think that it may be quite expensive for a night out, but it can be fairly reasonable on the whole. Berlin nightclubs may be a bit stricter than some that you may be used to and may have restrictions on stag and hen dos.

Wherever you choose to go, be sure and create an itinerary for your trip. Book any activities in advance as you may often get discounts for group bookings online. Be respectful to the locals and ensure you keep any valuables close to you, and if possible, split your money between different places about your person. There are many cities that are notorious for pickpockets, and many will prey on groups of partygoers, so do your best to stay safe.
