The summer is already long gone. You’ve packed the , and the floaty maxi dresses away. Autumn has started, and in fact, you can already stumble across Halloween decorations when you do your grocery shopping. If you’re not feeling excited by the pumpkins and the witch hats, you can make the most of the Halloween break – especially if you’re a parent, you can use the half-term school break – to recharge your batteries before the winter starts. Why does it matter? Because as the colder months arrive, the amount of direct sunlight you get during the day decreases. As a result, you might suffer from seasonal affective disorder – SAD syndrome – which can affect your mood. In short, there’s still time for you to book a last minute Halloween holiday before the winter! Why Halloween? The answer is straightforward. If you have kids, the half-term break hits about that period. If you don’t have kids, you’ll find that it’s the ideal time to get affordable prices.

You don’t have to break the bank

Not every holiday has to be the trip of a lifetime. Ultimately, giving the timeline, you can’t plan something too out of the ordinary for the Halloween break. Not that this should stop you from saving for a big and fancy trip, but for the end of October or beginning of November you need to look at simple and easy deals. Thankfully, most holiday resorts in Europe – keep your travel to short distance locations to make the most of the break – have cheap offers around the Halloween time. Spain continues to be an attractive destination even in October: the weather is still warm, and you can get plenty of sun and vitamin D!

You can keep it spontaneous

The advantage of the Halloween break is that you can book a last minute holiday relatively easily. Most destinations still have plenty of rooms available. All you need is to know how to find cheap flights to the best possible locations for you. It’s a good idea to keep your choices open so that you can select a destination based on your budget. You can even set a filter to receive regular notification about cheap routes or your preferred destinations. Ultimately, with plenty of weeks to go, you can let your budget decides of your trip!

You can take a break before the end of year stress

Whether you’ve got kids or not, everybody can suffer from the back to school stress. September marks the official end of the summer holidays, and consequently, for a lot of people, it’s a stressful period; the last stretch before the Christmas break. In other words, pins and needles in your extremities and constant throat clearing can be an indication that you’re going through a lot. If you don’t take a break, it’s fair to say that the September stress will evolve into pre-Christmas stress and you’ll be exhausted by the end of the year. Halloween marks the halfway point on the road to Christmas; it’s the ideal time to let go of your worry and relax.

Forget the trick or treat routine of the Halloween period. Use the time to take care of yourself instead. Why not book a holiday and make the most of the autumnal sun?
