Travel could be back on the agenda now that the situation surrounding COVID-19 is starting to ease. While it’s not completely over it’s looking more likely that international travel will be an option, particularly towards the end of the year. But where are you going to go this winter? Well, there are lots of possibilities to explore. It just depends on the type of vacation that you want. You could be interested in a city retreat or you might be more curious about a trip deep into the wilderness. Here are some of the best choices for all the possibilities that you might have in mind.
New York

If you are looking for a winter city break, then New York City is the ideal option. There’s nothing quite like seeing Central Park covered in snow or gazing up at the tree place outside Rockefeller Center. You’ll also be able to witness NYC when it’s beautifully decorated in festive lighting and if you’re lucky, you are going to get to experience snowfall. All the shops are showing off their festive spirit too and depending on when you go there are lots of activities to enjoy. For instance, you could head over a little early and see the Thanksgiving Parade. Or, you could think about going towards the end of December and enjoy the New York New Year celebrations. It’s fair to say that no one does New Year quite like New York. If you can be there when the ball drops, then you’ll be in for a night that you won’t soon forget.
You could even book for a winter-themed show and go and see Frozen on Broadway. This is just as delightful as the film that you know from the theater. However, we must warn that tickets sell out fast during this time of year.
Canada
If you want to escape the pressures of urban life this winter then we highly recommend that you do think about heading somewhere like Canada. With mesmerising beauty and areas with incredibly low populations per square mile, Canada is the perfect place to relax in complete peace and quiet. You can spot nature and even engage in a variety of different activities. Have you ever wanted to try ice fishing? Canada could be a great place to give this a go and discover why so many people love exploring this fantastic possibility. You can even take to the waters and see some whales as well as other aquatic wonders.
Of course, Canada is also going to be a great choice even if you don’t want to head out into the wilderness. You could, for instance, decide to visit Quebec this winter. You might even want to explore the Quebec winter carnival. This is a wonderful event which attracts people from all over the world with everything from great music to delicious treats. If you are interested in a festive market then Canada isn’t the only place where you can explore this possibility. But it’s definitely one of the best choices that we highly recommend.

Lapland
If you are planning a trip in the winter for the family, then you might want to think about heading somewhere like Lapland. This is the northern region in Finland and yes, it’s also home to one of the only theme parks in the world that is based around Santa Claus as well as the North Pole. Now, this isn’t your typical theme park. Instead, it’s more like a resort and it’s a great place to relax and unwind. This means that it could be perfect for adults as well as children. You don’t need to be a certain age to enjoy this particular place.
There are lots of activities worth exploring too. For instance, you can think about going sledding with a sled pulled by snow dogs. It’s also a place where you’ll be able to meet reindeer or just curl up by a warm fire. There are honestly so many possibilities to explore that this might just be the perfect festive retreat for you and the kids. It could even serve as a great place for a romantic trip away.
Disney World

Another option if you’re traveling with the kids would be Disney World. Now, there are a few things to be aware of here. First, if you are planning to be there during the Christmas season then prices are ridiculously expensive and far more costly compared to visiting the theme parks during other times in the year. The good news is that the festive celebrations actually start at the beginning of November right after Halloween. So, you can experience Disney at Christmas without actually going at Christmas which is honestly great. If you book it right, you can even catch both the festive and Halloween celebrations on the same trip.
There are a few things to consider when booking a trip to Disney at this time of year. First, while it’s a little colder, it’s not freezing. So, don’t overestimate how warm your clothing needs to be. It’s still Florida after all. Second, you are going to miss out on a few of the adventures. This includes one of the water parks which is always closed for refurbishments during this time.
Another key point would be to make sure that you book as early as possible. If you leave it too late then all the best hotels are going. You can book about a year in advance and six months in advance for dining.
We hope this helps you understand that there are some truly fantastic places to travel to for your winter break this year. You can go completely outside the box with some of these choices or book for one of the many chilly tourist hot spots. It might seem a little early to book your winter trip. But by getting your tickets early, you could actually save a lot of money and ensure that you don’t need to spend a fortune on a trip like this, whether you are flying solo or traveling with the family.
