Have you ever thought about getting more out of your travels? Yes, it’s fun to wander around and see new places, but what if you brought more purposes to your trips? As you can see in the title, I’m talking about fundraising. The idea is that you travel somewhere with the intention of doing something to raise money. People do it a lot, and it means you can enjoy a lovely holiday while also supporting a great cause.
So, here are a few fundraising ideas to take on your travels:

A fun run
We’ll start things off with the least scary ideas and gradually build our way up! A fun run is very straightforward; you choose a running route in a different country and complete it. Realistically, you want to choose somewhere that has lovely scenery and a long enough route to make it challenging. Thankfully, organising a fun run isn’t too stressful as you only really need to know where to run and who’ll come with you!
A long bike ride
Another popular idea is to get on your bike and cycle across a country. Many people have done this across various European countries before. I think a popular route is to go from France through to Italy, but you can obviously make your own decision. Or, just cycle a long distance in one country – the same rule as the fun run applies here, it has to be challenging. People won’t bother sponsoring you if you just go for a 5km bike ride in Europe!

Bungee jumping
This one is for the thrill-seekers out there! Bungee jumping is always a popular way of raising money as people love to see you scream. What’s more, it’s the ideal thing to do in a different country. My advice is to look at the biggest bungee jumps in the world and pick a location from that list. You probably won’t thank me for that advice, but you will raise a lot of money for a good cause.
Climb a mountain
Lastly, we have this absolute classic. People have been climbing mountains to raise money for decades. For me, this is a brilliant option as it gives you an excuse to visit places you’d probably never have otherwise visited. I’m not saying you should climb Mount Everest, but would you ever visit that area of the world if it wasn’t for this challenge!? Obviously, pick a mountain that can be done by an average person – you don’t want to risk your life here!
I think I should probably end with a couple of disclaimers. Mainly, don’t forget to get a full medical check before trying anything crazy. Secondly, the charity you raise money for is completely up to you. These are just ideas for fundraising techniques that you can do in other countries. Now, you can enjoy time away in a lovely place with the knowledge that you’re also making a big difference. Of course, you can always extend your trip to relax for a few days after the big fundraising event!
